Dancer, teacher and tango promoter based in Monterrey, Mexico.
Luz had her first approach to dance as a teenager. During College, she entered the University’s Jazz and Contemporary Companies while studying Biomedical Engineering. Her tango journey began in 2006 when she started taking stage tango lessons. In 2007 she focused on traditional tango and since then she has learnt from important and well known tango teachers in Mexico, the US and Argentina.
She has been teaching tango since 2009 and organizing milongas and workshops with guests teachers and dancers from Mexico and around the world. She has been guest performer and teacher in Tango events in Mexico and the US.
Alongside her partner Fernando, Luz has been finalist in different Mexican Competitions. In 2018 they won the first place in “Festival Tango Regio; in 2022 they came third place in “Bajío Tango”. In in 2023 they won “Bajío Tango, becoming National Champions. In 2023 they got to participate in the “Mundial de Tango” in Buenos Aires, representing their hometown.
In 2018, Luz co-founded “Relevé”, a Mexican brand that makes comfortable and customized tango shoes for milongueras in Mexico and all around the world.
At the milonga, she enjoys creating a dialogue with her partner while dancing and finding joy in the connection and shared experience of musicality.
